About the Intructor
Kelli Marie is a teacher, performer and innovator of Middle Eastern Dance specializing in creative arm and hand movements. She continues to expand her knowledge in various styles of dance by attending workshops and private lessons throughout the country. Her primary focus and ongoing study has been Classical Belly Dance, Rajasthan Gypsy and Classical Flamenco.
Even as a child Kelli, was drawn to performance and creative movement. She studied tap, folk dance, cheerleading, drill team, and martial arts before age 18. As an adult, Kelli became more interested in the health and fitness side of dance. She earned her certification as a personal trainer, an aquatic fitness instructor, and a warm-water arthritis teacher. Later, she became certified through NATCMED for Middle Eastern dance instruction. Kelli believes that her work with water fitness enhances her creativity and ability to dance, as both require deliberation, fluidity and grace. In fact, many of the arm and hand motions Kelli has developed are inspired by the movements of water.
Kelli regularly attends Rakkasah West in Richmond, CA, the largest annual belly dance event in the country. There she has had the privilege of studying with world-renowned artists such as Dalia Corella, Suhaila Salimpour, Elena Lentini, Leila Haddad and many more. Each of these phenomenal performers have influenced and inspired her passion for dance.
In addition to performing at various local events, Kelli has appeared in stage productions with many professional artists including Veena and Neena Bidasha, the famous belly twins.
Kelli's Instruction and performance styles include Classical Belly Dance, Tribal Style Belly Dance, Rajasthan Gypsy, and Flamenco Fusion.
